Feeding America maintains a database of food banks across America. If you need access to a food bank, or you are able to donate to your local bank, please use their search feature to find your nearest location.

We believe that food is inherently political. The determination of who has access to fresh food, who can afford it, which culinary cultures are respected (and which aren’t) are all controlled by the people in positions of power (both government and industry) and the choices they make for our country. But just as important are the choices that we make every day to feed ourselves and our families.
Buying, cooking and eating food cannot be separated from sourcing, growing, picking and delivering it. Kids should not grow up thinking that fresh produce magically appears at the supermarket with no labor involved.
Over 60% of farmworkers on American farms are migrant laborers, including undocumented workers. Most of the food we eat every day has been helped to our tables by immigrants.
Immigrants are also the backbone of the restaurant industry, and a viewpoint that only sees the one famous white man in the position of executive chef, remains blind to the kitchen full of line and prep cooks, dishwashers, and bussers who don’t match that description.
As the partnership behind Nerds with Knives, we try to root our personal ethos in kindness, compassion, human rights, equality, freedom of speech, and the rule of law.
As of January 2025, we feel the current US administration is antithetical to our values.
We don’t have a huge platform. We are just two people with hectic lives and day jobs just like everyone else. Even so, we have a public face and we want to be honest about where we stand. The very least we can do is use our platform to speak out. And there are issues that warrant speaking out about in frank, passionate, and occasionally, crude terms.
One of us is an immigrant (“Oi oi”, he says), and the other (“I’m walking here”) was raised in the most multicultural city in the world. Our patriotism is rooted in the belief that America is made great by the various cultures that make up our nation, not in spite of it. We believe in dignity, equity and a world free from discrimination.
Has this stance cost us followers, opportunities and possibly clients? Undoubtedly. But it has also made us more aligned with those who share our values. We hope you see this as an honest declaration of who we are.
That being said, we don’t bring politics into every situation or conversation. We understand that not every client wants to advertise political opinions and we are diligent in clarifying that the views, thoughts, and opinions expressed in our social media are solely ours and we don’t speak for anyone else.
